Notice to the refugees from Los Adaes.

In the City of San Fernando and Presidio of San Antonio de Béjar, on January 14, 1793, I, Manuel Muñoz, Lieutenant Colonel of the Cavalry of his Majesty's Royal Army, and Civil and Military Governor of this Province of Texas, acting informally with witnesses to my proceedings for lack of a notary public, hereby declare:

By virtue of the decree issued on the 11th day of the present month, and in the presence of José Cervantes, Attorney-in-fact for the refugees from the abandoned Presidio of Los Adaes, the provisions of the decree issued by Ramon de Castro, Commanding General, created Count Sierragorda, the opinion of the Advocate General of the Department of War, and the decree of concurrence by the Viceroy, Count of Revilla Gigedo, were made known to twenty of the said refugees, who after the said decree had been read to them declared:

"That the remainder of the refugees from Los Adaes were not present because they were out of the city and were not expected to return until the 25th of the following month. Then if they arrive on the given date they will submit a complete list of their number.

For the partition of lands that were assigned to them, in the lands formally occupied by the Indian wards of the Mission of San Antonio de Valero, they requested that Pedro Huizar, whose fee they will pay for a pro-rata collection among themselves, be appointed to measure and convey to them the six almudas (over six bushel of corn), of farm land assigned to each of the refugees and residents of the said mission, without prejudice to the right of the land which the Indians are entitled to enjoy.

In order that the said partition of land my not be delayed, they will summon Pedro Huizar, with whom they will execute a contract; they will then notify the present governor of the date when they will be ready and prepared to receive the said allotments of land.

This was their reply, which the Attorney-in-fact signed and those who knew how to write signed with me, the said governor and witnesses to my proceedings; to which I bear witness.
