Transfer of Troops & Families to Béxar, May 1, 1803
[Translation]
Chihuahua, May 1, 1803
Yldefonso Galavis, corporal from the Alamo de Parras Company, charged with conducting the troops and families who were with them in the Villa of San Geronimo, will carefully supervise his march to San Antonio de Béxar with the proper mandate and corresponding orderliness, without permitting any person from the group to separate, nor remain in the towns of passage unless some of them are unable to continue the trip because of illness. He will attest to such misfortune with certification from the Justice of the place in which it occurs, in order to satisfy the Governor of the Province of Texas of the exact cause that has necessitated leaving someone on the way. With the idea that the aforesaid Galavis will be responsible for all of the faults that the individuals whom he conducts in his charge incur, the punishment of which he is deserving of, will apply irremissibly to him.

When he arrives in Monclova he will present the Passport and this order to the Señor Gobernador who therefore, in whatever happens to him accidentally, will assist him in order that he arrives at the destination with the necessary safety and promptness that is required.

El cavo de la Compañía del Alamo de Parras Yldefonso Galavis, encargado de conducir la Tropa y Familias que existian de ella en la Villa de San Geronimo, celara cuidadosamente que practique su marcha h[as]ta San Antonio de Vexar con el buen or[de]n y arreglo q[u]e Corresponde, sin permitir que persona alguna de la Comitiva se separe, ni quede en los Pueblos del transito a menos que alguna de ellas se imposib[i]lete, por enfermedad, de continuar el viage, cuyo accidente calificara con Certificacion del Justicia del Paraje en q[u]e ocurra para satisfacer al Governador de la Provincia de Texas, de la justa causa que ha obligado a dejarla en el camino; bajo el concepto de que el expresado Galavis, sera responsable de todas las faltas en que incurran los Yndividuos que conduce a su cargo, y que se le aplicara irremisiblemente la pena a que por ella Se haga acrehcedor[?].
